Jordan: A scorching air mass is approaching the Kingdom, and several weather factors are hindering its progress.

Arab Weather - Computer simulation outputs at the Arab Weather Center indicate the concentration of a very hot, scorching air mass near the Kingdom, specifically over Iraqi lands and northern Saudi Arabia, where temperatures reached extremely high levels, approaching 50 degrees Celsius in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, as a result of the center of this air mass being concentrated over the region.

This scorching air mass has caused a strong heat wave over the past few days that has affected large parts of the Arabian Peninsula, but thankfully it has not been able to advance towards the Kingdom or indirectly affect it.

This is attributed to several important weather factors, most notably:

* The influx of moderately warm air masses from the eastern part of the European continent towards the eastern Mediterranean basin, which forms an atmospheric barrier that limits the expansion of the scorching air mass towards the Kingdom.

* Differences in atmospheric pressure in the region, where a high-pressure system is centered over the Mediterranean Sea, coinciding with a surface thermal low-pressure system over the Arabian Peninsula, which leads to the flow of sea winds towards the land at a northwesterly angle, which contributes to protecting the Kingdom from the advance of the scorching air mass towards it.

Accordingly, the weather is expected to remain typical summer weather in various regions of the Kingdom during the daytime hours, while it will be pleasant at night and tend towards coolness during the early morning hours, especially over the mountainous highlands and eastern plains.
